MIDLANDS MAFVA meet as part of......

Leicester Modellers have been around the hobby for over 35 years and we have been based in Wigston, Leics UK since 1996. We are as much a group of friends as much as we share an interest in this diverse Hobby. We haven't always had this name having been previously been known as: Leicester & District Model Group, Leicester Model Club.

Although we are an Independent Model Club, many of our members are also part of the IPMS (International Plastic Modellers Society) and their associated Special Interest Groups, MAFVA (Miniature Armoured Fighting Vehicle Association) and Other Model Hobby Groups - we do not promote exclusivity.

We are predominantly comprised of Armour Modellers but with an increased variety of Aircraft, Figure and Fantasy Modellers joining the fold. We also visit and display at several Shows across the Midlands each year and are well known across the Model Making community with close links to many other Clubs.

Our Members range widely from the more local: Wigston, Oadby, Syston, Leicester, Broughton Astley, and Hinckley to others who are scattered from across the Midlands: Birmingham, Nuneaton, Long Eaton, Nottingham, Newark, Wolverhampton, Coventry, Stafford, Newport Shrops and Grimsby and whilst not everyone can attend every month, they come when they can or meet up with us at the Shows.

Meetings are held regularly on the 2nd Saturday of each calendar month from 7:30pm until we've had enough...

  • There is No Committee, so No Agenda other than to promote Model Making
  • There are No Membership Fees except a few cakes or some biscuits to go with the Tea & Coffee
  • There is a No Smoking policy, it is my home after all
  • Discussions covering a wide and diverse range of subjects are common (not just Modelling)
  • Scrutiny of current projects, new purchases and new techniques - so bring your latest whatever!
  • Advice is readily available and freely given with no-strings-attached
  • A wide range of reference material can be arranged to view (with prior notice)

We have also recently begun a 'Build Club' where a few of us gather on alternate Saturday afternoon/evening to actually build models (except when it falls on Club Night). This helps where it is sometimes difficult to concentrate at home, or a member needs a bit of help or guidance with a new technique. (See Leicester Modellers website)

  • 1 to 1 help and guidance
  • use of specialist equipment
  • access to reference materials
  • peace and quite for those 'small part' moments

If you're interested, why not pop along on Club Night
You can obtain more details from the websites, by emailing
